TURKISH FILMS ARE IN POLAND

The International Bosphorus Cinema Association organizes the ‘Turkish Films Week’ between 03-10 October in Poland specially for the 600th anniversary of the relations between the two country, Poland and Turkey.

The Poland Turkish Films Week organized by the International Bosphorus Cinema Association to contribute into the development and reinforcement of the relations between the country in the field of cinema, and to outreach to the Polish cinema lovers and bring the Turkish films to them, starts on October 4th at 20:00 with the private preview of “Kelebeğin Rüyası (Dream of the Butterfly)”, a film by Yılmaz Erdoğan, at the Kinetoka cinema hall at Warsaw. 

The feature films that participate in the festival during which simultaneous screenings and events shall take place between 3-10 October in three separate cities -Warsaw, Krakow and Lodz- in Poland are comprised of Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s “Kış Uykusu (Winter Sleep)”, Yeşim Ustaoğlu’s “Araf”, Erdem Tepegöz’s “Zerre (Bit)”, İsmail Güneş’s “Ateşin Düştüğü Yer (The Place of Fire)”, Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun’s “Yozgat Blues”, Yüksel Aksu’s “Dondurmam Gaymak (Ice Cream)”, Semir Aslanyürek’s “Lal”, Mehmet Bahadır Er and Maryna Gorbach’s “Sev Beni (Love Me)”. Following the screenings, a Q&A interview is made between the audience and the directors of the films. In addition to this, a special selection of Turkish short films are also included in the festival program along with the feature films.

Besides the film screening, the event presents a comprehensive program through various organizations and events take place such as the Turkish Cinema Forum.

The International Bosphorus Cinema Association stands as a bridge between the two cinema industries by carrying past and contemporary works of art of the Turkish cinema -which is now a century year old- to Poland through the events organized.
