TURKISH CINEMA IS AT THE 72nd BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL!

Turkish Cinema is being promoted at the 72nd Berlin Film Festival. While the Festival section will be held physically, the European Film Market section will be held online in the event. 

Ministry Supported “Klondike” in Panorama Selection! 

 Maryna Er Gorbach, who won the Best Director award at the Sundance Film Festival, is in the Panorama selection of the 72nd Berlin Film Festival with her movie “Klondike”. The film received Co-Production Support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. 

 In the Panorama selection, which will open with the screening of, one of the important directors of European Cinema, Alain Guiraudie’s new film Nobody’s Hero, the movie “Love, Mark and Death” by director Cem Kaya, who is known for his documentary “Motor: Copy Culture & Popular Turkish Cinema”, will also meet the audience. 

Another name in the festival will be director İlker Çatak, who will take part at the Berlinale Co-Production Market with his film “Yellow Envelopes”. 

18 Films in Main Competition

Indian-American director M. Night Shyamalan is the head of the jury for the 72nd Berlin Film Festival’s main competition. At the festival, 18 films including new films by directors such as Francois Ozon, Claire Denis, Hong Sang-soo and Ulrich Seidl will compete for the Golden Bear award. 

Turkish Cinemato be Promoted at the European Film Market 

Within the scope of the European Film Market, the newly completed and in development projects of Turkish cinema in the genres of feature films, short films and documentaries will be introduced, while Turkish films will be showcased in the international arena. 

 Co-production and project opportunities, which have become very important in the cinema industry due to information and technology transmission, access to local funding sources, creation of potential markets and development of promotional activities, will also be discussed at the festival. 

 At the Berlin Film Festival, the “Foreign Film Production Support”, which came into force with the new cinema law, will be presented to international filmmakers. With the support, it is predicted that Turkey, which stands out as a natural plateau, will increase its competitive power in this field and become one of the important film shooting centers.
