
TURKISH CINEMA IS AT THE 70TH BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL
The 70th of the Berlin Film Festival which is deemed as one of the most important and prestigious film festivals in the world, is starting today. In the main contest of the festival artistic directors of which are Carlo Chatrian and Mariette Rissenbeek this year, 18 films will compete and the jury chairman will be the actor Jeremy Irons.
The Turkey Desk formed under the European Film Market which is organized in scope of the festival with the support of Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Bosphorus Culture and Arts Foundation, will host the industry professionals from all around the world. Works will be carried out in order to realize projects in the festival which is one of the most important platforms for the co-productions.
The new foreign film incentives realized after the new cinema law in scope of the festival’s EFM Landmark platform that took place on 25 February, and the opportunities that turkey provide for film shooting will be made available to the world film industry by the ministry officials through the event called “Film Opportunities in Turkey”.
Also, Turkish actress Ece Yüksel, film editor Selda Taşkın as well as the director and producer Emine Yıldırım were selected for the Berlinale Talents division which is the program discovering new talents under Berlin Film Festival.
In scope of the festival, the market screening of the director Fatih Özcan’s “Mavzer (Mauser Rifle)”, Faysal Soysal’s “Ceviz Ağacı (Silenced Tree)” and Ercan Kesal’s “Nasipse Adayız (You Know Him)” will be made.
In the Producers Hub section of the festival, however, TRT 12 Punto Senaryo Günleri (Turkish Radio and Television Association Screenplay Days, Font Size:12) will be presented under the title of “TRT Co-Productions Fund Presentation & Networking Reception”.
The festival will end on 1 March.
