
TURKEY IS IN THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL
Being considered as the most prestigious film festival in the world, Cannes Film Festival started with a special collection comprised of 53 films and the market division.
The festival which is organized online this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will bring 8,500 cinema professionals together with 250 sales representatives between 22-26 June.
In the festival that is organized under the name “Cannes Online” and hosting 60 countries, the films will not compete this year.
The selection including 53 films determined will be presented to the audience under the label of “Cannes 2020” in significant festivals such as Venice and San Sebastian during the fall season.
Filming in Turkey Will Be Promoted
In the Turkey branch organized with the cooperation of Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Bosphorus Culture and Arts Foundation, Filming in Turkey will be promoted.
Also, the “Foreign Films Production Grant” which entered into effect with the new cinema law and which enables return of an amount up to 30% of the expenses made in Turkey by the foreign film producers, will be promoted for the international cinema professionals.
With this grant, it is expected that the competitive power of Turkey -that possesses features of a natural tableland- will increase and Turkey will become one of the significant film shooting hubs.
In addition, our feature films, short films and documentaries already produced or at work-in-progress level will be promoted in the Turkey branch and all the genres of our cinema will be presented to the audience in the international arena.
Balkaya Is In the Cinefondation L’Atelier Program
Also, the sales agencies within the Turkey branch will present award winning Turkish production films which are watched with great interest such as 7. Koğuştaki Mucize (Miracle in Cell Number 7), Biz Böyleyiz (The Way We Are), Ömer Ve Biz (Ömer and Us), Deliler (Mad People) and Ailecek Şaşkınız (What A Crush) to the whole world.
Emin Alper who competed for the grand award in Berlin Film Festival in 2019 with his recent film Kız Kardeşler (A Tale of Three Sisters) will be under one of the significant sections of the Cannes Film Festival called Cinefondation L’Atelier film development program with his new film project, Balkaya, that is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
15 projects succeeded to be selected for the Cinefondation L’Atelier program which will be organized for the 16th time this year.
