The Turkish Night in Cannes
Within the framework of Cannes Film Festival which is deemed as the most important film festival of the world and organized for the 72th time this year, cinema opportunities in Turkey were explained to the foreign film producers in the Turkish Day Reception carried out on Friday, 17 May 2019 in scope of the Turkey Desk that is formed with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the International Bosphorus Cinema Association.
Guests from international cinema, art, fashion, gastronomy, tourism, media and business world attended to the event night organized at Majestic Beach which is the meeting point of the festival artists.
The Turkish Day Reception hosted by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Ersoy, stood as a significant platform in terms of promotion of Turkey which entirely has the feature of a natural table-land with its great richness provided by its geographical and seasonal conditions, and of the cinema opportunities in Turkey.
The heart of the world cinema
In the event that hosted significant producers and industry representatives from all around the world, the foreign film producers were informed about all the support that will be provided to them in Turkey through the New Cinema Law.
Through the new incentives that were expected with great interest and curiosity and were announced in Cannes – which is deemed as the heart of the world cinema – many cinema and series projects are expected to be shot in Turkey. In reception, the film shooting locations in Turkey along with the casting, set, visual effects and other technical opportunities as well as a trailer which includes sections from Hollywood productions that were shot in Turkey, were presented to the guests.
In the night that was cheered up with the fashion designer Zeynep Kartal’s fashion show having the sustainability concept, many delicacies from the Turkish cuisine were offered to the guests. The night ended up with a percussion show by Burhan Öcal who is a world-famous percussionist.
