The Turkish Impact on the 41th International Moscow Film Festival
Turkey will be the “Guest Country of Honor” in the 41th International Moscow Film Festival which will take place on 18–25 April in scope of 2019 Turkey-Russia Culture and Tourism Year. Through the “Guest Country of Honor: Turkey” event organized in the 41th International Moscow Film Festival with the support of Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and cooperation of the International Bosphorus Cinema Association, also a contribution in the cultural field will be made to the two countries’ developing relations. A committee comprised of producers, directors and actors/actresses from Turkey will join the festival and our films will be presented to the taste of the Russian audience.
Semih Kaplanoğlu is among the jury members of the festival’s main section, in which Seyid Çolak’s Kapan will make its world premiere.
In the festival which will bring a special collection comprised of Turkish films together with the Russian audience, Semih Kaplanoğlu’s Buğday (Wheat), Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Ahlat Ağacı (The Wild Pear Tree), Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun’s Anons (Announcement), Vuslat Saraçoğlu’s Borç (Debt), Banu Sıvacı’s Güvercin (Peagon), Ahmet Katıksız’s Bizim İçin Şampiyon (Champion) and Orhan Tekeoğlu’s Vargit Zamanı (Time to Leave) will be screened, and following the screening the creative teams of these films will make interviews with the audience.
A “Turkey-Russia Series and Cinema Industry Meeting” will be held in scope of the festival, for the purpose of ensuring that both country’s series and cinema industry will become closer, cultural and commercial collaborations will be increased and co-productions will be implemented. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Association) and International Bosphorus Cinema Association as well as the industry representatives including Fatih Aksoy (Medyapım), Timur Savcı (Tims Productions) and Burhan Özkan (Maya Production) who are significant series and film producers from Turkey will attend the meeting.
The Turkey Reception which will host special guests and jury members of the International Moscow Film Festival, will be one of the most important events that will be carried out in scope of the festival.
